Vivo X500 Series Set to Launch September 21, Betting Big on Camera Tech
Vivo has officially announced that the X500 Series will launch on September 21, 2026, in China. The announcement was made at the Vivo Creator Festival, which also showcased a design teaser for the newest flagship, still featuring the brand’s signature large circular rear camera module.
The main focus of the Vivo X500 Series is improved photography and videography capability. This series will bring new-generation imaging technology, claimed to deliver better image quality, particularly for users who enjoy photography or professional content creation.
Vivo X500 Series ; New Sensor and Stabilization Tech
One confirmed new technology is the Blueprint LightGuard 900 sensor. This sensor is paired with Vivo’s ultra-high dynamic range technology, claimed to achieve a dynamic range of up to 17EV, allowing it to capture detail in both bright and dark areas more effectively.
Beyond that, the main camera and periscope telephoto camera on the X500 Series will also feature a CIPA 7.0 stabilization system. This technology is aimed at producing sharper photos and stable video recordings even without a gimbal.
Vivo X500 Series ;Major Video Recording Upgrades
Recent leaks also reveal a significant upgrade to videography capability. The Vivo X500 Series is said to support 4K 240fps slow motion recording, 4K 120fps HDR video, 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding, and even ACES support for video production needs requiring cinematic color standards.
Vivo X500 Pro Max: The Star of the Lineup
The top-tier model, the Vivo X500 Pro Max, is drawing the most attention. Based on circulating information, this device is expected to feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 200MP Samsung HP0 periscope telephoto camera for long-range zoom capability. However, full specifications remain pending official confirmation at launch.
Vivo is also preparing a 400mm teleconverter for the X500 Pro Max, enabling photography of distant subjects such as concerts or landscapes. Beyond camera hardware, the company has also introduced an AI Photography Assistant, capable of recognizing thousands of shooting scenarios and automatically recommending composition, poses, and color adjustments.
Another AI feature is AI editing within the photo gallery. Users will reportedly be able to edit images through natural language commands, making the editing process more practical, directly from the smartphone.
Vivo X500 Series ;Standard X500 and Pro Camera Configurations
For the standard variant, the Vivo X500 is expected to use a Sony LYTIA-828 main camera measuring 1/1.28 inches, paired with a Sony LYTIA-610 telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, the X500 Pro and Pro Max will offer more premium camera configurations, with enhanced telephoto capability and stabilization.
Vivo X500 Series ; Display and Chipset
Beyond the camera, leaks suggest the X500 Pro Max will use a BOE Q11 2K display measuring around 6.83 inches, paired with a flagship 2nm-class MediaTek chipset. That said, processor details, pricing, and global availability, including in Indonesia, have not been officially announced by Vivo.

Based on the leaks that have surfaced so far, Vivo appears to once again be making its camera department the main weapon in its fight for the flagship segment.
